Fashion Blogging: Brief Cross-sectional Overview
Fashion industry in earlier
days was difficult to break in unless a person was well-funded or
well-connected. Fashion blogging emerged as a means of democratizing the idea
of fashion, and shaking the pre-existing hierarchy to its core. What this meant
was that even a low-key Los
Angeles Blogger with high traffic and a fine fashion sense could become
one with the fashion industry without education or connections. These blogs
were beyond style and society
magazines, they were all about doing your thing without being too
calculative in your temperance.
Then over the years fashion
blogging underwent some major shifts, where it was no longer about
individuality and the idea started aligning itself to mediocrity, whole hearted
conformist tendencies. The lost self-expression as witnessed in the best entertainment magazine
now turned to a monotonous collectivism where each one was hell bent on
replicating the other. The commercial angle also proved to be dreadful where
readers were kept in the dark about sponsored content, which although was
necessary yet hampered the artistic integrity.
